"Star Belly":
The
novel
What
started as Chad A. Rinn's second novel as evolved into a
collaboration between Chad and Cecilia Rinn. It is a love
story that blends together elements of fantasy, gritty realism,
and stream of consciousness.
The novel
will fit together with the graphic novel "Snake Blood Coffee",
though neither one could be considered an adaptation of the other.
In fact, both "Star Belly" and "Snake Blood Coffee" are
pieces of a larger project that will include a feature length
documentary, a book of photography and a motion picture, all
connected in unexpected ways.

"....The first time I saw
her belly-button was in Palm Springs. There is no way I could have
known at that time that it wasn't a real belly-button. It was nestled
in a dramatic star-shaped scar, but it wasn't just the star shape that
mesmerized me. Her belly-button was magic and it was calling out to
me. As she danced- her eyes half shut, a mysterious smile curling the
innocence out of her delicate lips- it was sex and death that her
belly-button sang to me of...
